I've always had trouble reading nontechnical literature.

My mother could read War and Peace in an afternoon, and would then make it clear she didn't understand and would be incapable of understanding what Tolstoy was saying about history and complex numbers.

As I've never met a mathematician who got their teeth into integration this is something I take as a gift from the man himself who knew that from around the time of his grandfather man had outsmarted God.

I merely add, to save the ignorant reader a step of research, that Tolstoy and his (who are one and the same), and I (and wishful thinking), leave the rest to the reader as an exercise.
